Welcome to our new blog feature, ‘60 seconds with…’. Join us every fortnight for a catch up with employees from behind the scenes of Zest 4 Leisure. For our first interview, we speak to Head of Zest 4 Leisure Direct, Simon Davison.
Tell us a little about your role at Zest 4 Leisure.
I am responsible for the home delivery side of Zest 4 Leisure. Although we are a relatively new division to the group, Zest 4 Leisure Direct have created great relationships with the online world. Our online retailers sell a variety of Zest 4 Leisure products on their websites and we arrange delivery on their behalf. We are proud to work with a variety of online brands that are Zest approved.
Your product collection includes over 140 high-quality pieces, which is your favourite and why?
It would have to be the Cheltenham Arbour with Storage Box. I bought the product as a gift for my parents-in-law. It looks fantastic in their garden and they spend most of their time relaxing in it – weather permitting!
Zest 4 Leisure Direct offers dropship delivery to their online retailers, how does this benefit them?
Firstly, it gives them access to a range of garden products that they may not have been able to access before. Paired with the fact that we arrange delivery on behalf of our retailers makes the process quick and easy.
Additionally, it also means they will not need to hold unnecessary stock in their warehouses or have to spend time dealing with third-party transport agencies.
You have recently opened a new 9-acre distribution centre; how will this support your offering online?
It is already starting to make a huge difference to the team. The additional space means we can now hold greater volumes of product ranges, as well as increase the capacity to store internet-only products. Due to the growth of the business, we have also introduced a new IT order system that has supported our online offering too. The new system allows us to process orders and dispatch products at a much quicker rate.
The ultimate goal is for us to become the supplier of choice for online retailers in our industry. So, we work closely with our customers to ensure we offer them a great customer service as well as to provide them with high-quality garden products.
What exciting things can we expect from you and the team in the future?
Innovation is the key to our success. We are always looking to improve our existing product offering, as well as to continue to develop new products and ideas. Because of this, our recent partnership with Cardiff University has seen CMU Product Design Graduate, Luke Roberts join the business. Luke’s new ideas have greatly supported the innovation of new products.
